This academy is to train law enforcement officers in tactics
to effectively deal with a mental health consumer
experiencing a mental crisis as well as every day interaction.
This training is for all law enforcement officers in the State of Utah.
After successful completion of this forty-hour course,
the law enforcement officer will be certified by the
Utah State Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health as a CIT Officer.
CIT Academy instruction includes:
Suicide assessment and intervention
Substance abuse and dual diagnosis
Introduction to mental illness
Psychotropic medications
Legal issues
Elderly and children’s issues
Developmental disabilities
Intervention strategies
Scenario training
Site visits
Tuition for Law Enforcement Agencies of:
Weber and Morgan counties $75.00
All other counties $150.00
